After graduating as an art major, Lu first designed jewelry and then dining utensils, but none of these was her passion. After trying this and that for a time, she found her inspiration in plants. Following this, she created her own brand of jewellery "Silverplants", bringing out plant-inspired designs in pieces of silver and local stones. She says, "Taiwan has so many beautiful gemstones; you don't have to use imported ones to make beautiful pieces." Lu likes to use chalcedony from eastern Taiwan best, as, she feels, "It gives my pieces more meaning having been made with things that are unique to Taiwan."
