Pei-tse Shen began to learn about wood carving after completing junior high school. It took him three years and four months to become a master carver. Though he pursued another career along the way, he eventually returned to carving, his one true love. Having achieved much and received many awards, Shen now works to teach those of the younger generation. He has taught at such institutions as Miaoli Community University, National Taiwan University of the Arts and Tai-an Junior High School. His best "works" are his students, who are frequently honored at the National Aboriginal Wood Sculpting Competition.
