Ming-yi Wu is the 24th generation of a ceramic family from Cizao Town in Fu Jian province, inheriting "Wensheng Kiln" in 1997, and has long been devoted to ceramic technique development. He has been fascinated by the genuine character and the natural color variation of wood-fired ceramics. In 1996, he published the study of Copper Red, Green and Blue Glaze, and designed "mother-and-son kiln" which contains two wood-fired kilns and two chimneys (a big one and a small one) in Miaoli studio.
Wu categorizes his creation with 3 brands – the first kind focuses on mass productions including tea pot, bowl, and plate; the second kind concerns ceramic art pieces for the scene, like the Water Flow series. The third kind is about pure modern ceramic art creation, like the latest series, A Fusion of Old and New : Red in Taiwan's Wood Firing Ceramics, and is marked respectively with the brand named "Ceramic Art Origin", "Wensheng Kiln" and "Wu".
