"Seeing the world through details" is the phrase that perhaps best characterizes Forng-shean Chen's works. He always takes on difficult tasks and incorporates current affairs into his works. In 2009, when pandas were given by China to Taiwan, Chen carved the smallest pair of pandas in the world. The smaller of the two is just 0.07 mm tall, while the larger one is 1 mm. Through a powerful magnifying glass, visitors to Chen's workshop can see that the pandas hold a banner that reads, " I am going to Taiwan." Understanding that artists in China are becoming more skilled in carving miniatures, Chen has tried to maintain his edge by using different materials, such as metal and resin, to enrich his works.
