Having trained in Western painting, Ching-lin Chen looks for much of his inspiration in clothing. For more than two decades, Chen has been fascinated by and engaged in the art of dyeing. In addition to creating in his workshop and giving lectures at schools and the community at large, Chen has also written books to promote the art of dyeing with vegetable-based inks, and has become one of the most important figures in the renaissance of dyeing in Taiwan.
