Born into a family of carpenters, Chuan-jui Hung started to build ¬shing boats when he was still a teenager. Now he designs and constructs temples, bringing to bear his skills in both boat-making and temple construction on all of his projects. He has traveled to many nations to study ancient ships, and has built several models based on what he has learned. Another idea that has emerged from Hung's fruitful mind is the establishment of a museum dedicated to shipbuilding, which he believes would help to promote and preserve such skills in Taiwan.
