A changing world has meant that fewer temples are being created, which has in turn lessened the demand for temple carvings. Nonetheless, 40-year-old Ming-hai Tsai continues to remain devoted to his art. While a temple carving master, he now carves pieces based on his memories of his childhood in a farming village. He puts a great deal of feeling into his works, making them come alive. For Tsai, art is a way to record his life. It is also a mission without an end.
