A half-century ago, a young indigenous child went against his family’s wishes, leaving home because of a burning desire inside to study and create for himself a bright future. In time, this boy, Amid-'afo, grew to become a primary school teacher and an administrator. Desiring to promote the culture of his people, the Amis, he learned the art of woodcarving. Having enjoyed many successes both professional and persona, Amid-'afo now concentrates on sharing his skills and his culture with his students.
