Differentiating his work from traditional Koji pottery forms, Sheng-nan Lu specializes in utensils and mythical animals. In recent years, he has begun to focus on teaching and creating works of public art, a challenge given their size. In order to pass down what he knows of Koji pottery to the next generation, Lu has researched new ingredients for glazes, seeking an alternative to lead for these protective coatings.
