Silversmithing had its heyday in Tainan during the Japanese colonial period. The Lin family, whose members are all silversmiths all, was once presented with an award by the Council of Cultural A airs for their contribution to the art. They are among the best silversmiths in Taiwan today and their works are all handmade. Not only are they good at making traditional silver hats, they have incorporated many modern Western techniques into their works. To promote their art, they hold classes on working in silver.
